Life's a beach

Last weekend we made our first visit to the beach as a family of four.  It was Nicholas's first time dipping his toes in the ocean and it was Sam's first trip back to the beach this year.  They both loved it!  Sam is turning into such a kid and it's so much fun to do things like this now that he's older.  Of course with two boys so little, lugging around all the accessories and worrying about feedings, naps and diaper changes makes a trip to the beach not as relaxing for Mom and Dad as it was in the days before kids, but nevertheless, it's a new adventure and has its own joys.  Watching Sam run around laughing and splashing and telling me how much he loved it hours and now days later made it all worth it.  It was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to more trips this year and especially next year when Nicholas can splash and play too.  :)

Packing for a day at the beach for an infant and toddler is a daunting task.

Stopping to people watch

Me and my fellow umbrella camper.  Nicholas and I spent most of our time under the umbrella.  I can't wait for next year when we can PLAY more!  It was pretty relaxing though.  We people watched, soaked up the sounds of the ocean and had fun watching Sam run all over the place.  :)

Despite getting these pictures of this guy wide awake, he spent most of his first day at the beach sleeping.  The sound of those waves are relaxing!
Just chillin'

Enjoying the view

First time dipping his toes in the ocean.  :)

So...we had a kid.

I've determined I have no future as a serious blogger.  It's been probably six months since my last post.  In that time, we've celebrated four major holidays, rang in a new year, had a kid and I turned 30.  That about sums it up.  ;)  Enjoy the pictures!

This little guy became a big brother this year - Yay!

Nicholas Kenneth DiNardo - born January 29, 2014 at 12:47pm - 7lbs 15oz 19.5in long

Brand new

The first picture of Daddy with his boys.  Excuse the mask on Sam.  It was flu season and the hospital has a strict procedure for child visitors wearing masks.

Me and my little Spud Muffin got lots of quality time together at the hospital because Daddy had to be home with Sam.  It was nice to have that time, but it was also SO nice to go home and be with both my boys.  I'm so happy I was able to leave the hospital the day after delivering!  A completely different experience than having Sam when we got stuck in the hospital for five days due to a slight case of jaundice.

Such a sweet Daddy
This carrier has been my LIFE SAVER having the two boys.  I used it a little with Sam, but it was a necessity this time around.  LOVE IT!

Sam LOVES cuddling with his brother in his crib

These pictures just touch the tip of the iceberg for how good of a brother Sam is to Nicholas.  If his binky pops out, Sam rushes to put it back in - he is always trying to soothe Nicholas and loves talking to him and cuddling with him.  He really has blown me away with how much he's embraced the role of 'big brother'.  He's such a caring and loving guy.  I love this kid so much!

My silly monkey

Sam turned two and became Mr. Personality.  He is a comedian, a master negotiator, a car enthusiast, at times a gymnast, a crafter (especially if the craft involves food lol), a great conversationalist, a train hobbyist, a backseat driver, and occasionally, if I'm lucky, a cuddle bug.  This kid is hilarious.  I love watching him grow into his own.  Life is getting very fun.  :)

Two months old!  :)

First bath together!  This was one of those parenting moments I was really looking forward to having the two boys so close in age.  I remember being really little and having so much fun with my sister in the bath playing and splashing around.  One of the sibling moments in life that bring back such good memories.

Running errands has become quite the challenge.  I know it will get easier, eventually...hopefully...but right now, it is insane how difficult simple tasks have become.  ;)

So there you have it.  A very very brief, and not very thorough, catch-up for all that has happened in the last several months.  As always, I will vow to blog more frequently, but no promises.  ;)
